Wanda J. Montgomery currently serves as the Director of Community Partnerships for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. In this role, she sits on numerous boards and committees. Some of note are: Wisconsin Department of Children and Families – Secretary Council on Child Welfare, Rite Hite YMCA, National Kidney Foundation and Housing Resources Board. Wanda has been an active member of the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) for over 23 years and is a Founding and Charter Member of the Black Child Development Institute – Milwaukee Affiliate (BCDI-Milwaukee), which was chartered in November of 1997.
She serves as Church Administrator for Ebenezer Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Jonathan Saffold, Sr. In June of 2017, was elected to serve as Chairwoman of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin Board of Directors.
Montgomery has been fortunate to be recognized for work through awards, such as 2017 Community Brainstorming, James Howard Baker Community Service Award, 2017 Pastors United Community Service Award, 2017 United Way Gwen T. Jackson Community Service Award, 2017 Business Journal Women of Influence and the NBCDI Distinguished Service Award. In January 2018 Wanda was featured along with 35 other Black leaders in Milwaukee in a Photo Gallery at the Jewish Community Center. This exhibit will be on display through May 14, 2018.
Committed to the broader community, Wanda Montgomery seeks to serve on the Brown Deer Village Board as a Trustee. She possesses the education, experience, resources and passion to serve the Brown Deer community. Montgomery is actively meeting with Village leaders and residents to learn from them and prepare herself for the role of Trustee.
Montgomery has been married to Floyd Montgomery for 44 years and has three adult children, three grandchildren and two grand dogs. She lives by the quote from Maya Angelou, “when you learn, teach… when you get, give.”
About the Brown Deer Village
The Village of Brown Deer encompasses an area of 4.5 square miles in northern Milwaukee County. The Village Board is responsible to the residents of the Village of Brown Deer for the provision of municipal services. Regular meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Earl McGovern Board Room (Room 100) at Village Hall.
